Christopher Gay (born 17 June 1977) is an American film and television editor and producer. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, USA, he began his career in the editorial department as a second assistant editor on The Recordist (2007), then worked as an assistant editor on CSI: NY (2008), Criminal Minds (2009), and The Magnificent Cooly-T (2009). He also worked as an assistant editor and post-production production assistant on the television series Mad Men (2008–2009), before progressing to editor. Gay went on to edit 15 episodes of Mad Men (2007), working on the acclaimed drama between 2012 and 2015. His work on the series earned him several award nominations, including a 2012 Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series for the episode "Far Away Places." He also received a 2015 American Cinema Editors Eddie Award nomination for Best Edited One-Hour Series for Commercial Television for the episode "Waterloo" (2014), as well as Online Film & Television Association Award nominations for Best Editing in a Series in 2012 and 2014, the latter shared with editors Tom Wilson and Chris Figler. After Mad Men, Gay edited 15 episodes of the science-fiction television series 12 Monkeys (2015), spanning its second through fourth seasons between 2016 and 2018. His subsequent television editing credits include The Last Tycoon (2016), The Romanoffs (2018), Mayor of Kingstown (2021), 1883 (2021), Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023), 1923 (2022), Yellowstone (2018) and Landman (2024). He also served as a supervising editor on Gripped: Climbing the Killer Pillar (2020) and edited the feature film The Tiger Rising (2022). In addition to his editing work, Gay has experience as a producer. He served as a co-producer on the historical miniseries Tut (2015), producing three episodes, and as a producer on the short film The Callback (2013). His other credits include associate producer on Pipe Dreams (2003). His later television work includes editing four episodes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023), four episodes of 1923 (2022–2025), three episodes of Landman (2024) and two episodes of Yellowstone (2024). In 2026, he edited two episodes of the television miniseries VisionQuest.
